When an emergency or disaster occurs, your priority is to make sure you and your family are safe and secure. Only then should you:
- Monitor the Area 2 “Bozo” repeater (ACS Channel 2). Typically, updates on the emergency, instructions, and any potential ACS activation will be given at the top of the hour, 20 minutes after the hour and 20 minutes before the top of the hour. (00:00, 00:20, 00:40).
- ACS Channel 2: 147.885, minus offset, PL 127.3 (Bozo repeater on Rasnow Peak)
During an emergency, Net Control might direct you to any of these frequencies:
- ACS Channel 12: 146.445 is the Area 2 Simplex frequency.
- ACS Channel 9: 145.200, minus offset, PL 127.3 is the county-wide repeater on Sulphur Mountain.
- ACS Channel 32: 146.850, minus offset, PL 94.8 is the primary backup for the Bozo repeater (ACS Channel 2) and is located on Grissom Peak.
- The Grissom repeater (ACS Channel 32) may be used for non-ACS volunteer operators to contact Net Control.
Reminder: If the Bozo repeater (ACS Channel 2) should fail for any reason, tune to the output frequency of the repeater (Channel 22). You may attempt to contact Net Control. Net Control will direct you to tune to the backup repeater (Grissom, Channel 32) or other frequency. In the event all repeater frequencies are inoperable, monitor the Area 2 simplex frequency for instructions (ACS Channel 12.)
If ACS is activated by Ventura County Emergency Services and you are available to volunteer, contact the Area 2 Emergency Coordinator or any of the Area 2 Assistant Emergency Coordinators. All assignments, including which EOCs are activated and need staffing will be announced on the Area 2 repeater (ACS Channel 2.)
