Ventura County Hams Ready for Field Day June 28th

Ventura County ham radio operators were honored June 3rd as the Ventura County Board of Supervisors proclaimed the month of June as “Amateur Radio Month” in Ventura County.

Many of the hams present were preparing for the 24-hour emergency readiness exercise “Field Day” which begins on Saturday, June 28th. The object of this annual exercise is to communicate under simulated emergency conditions that might be encountered during a disaster. The public is welcome to visit any of three Field Day locations in Ventura County to learn about more about emergency preparedness and to become familiar with the services these radio volunteers provide to the community.

You are encouraged to visit any of these family-friendly Field Day sites on June 28th:

  • The Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club (CVARC) Field Day site is on the Sherwood Development Company Field, 377 W. Potrero Road, Thousand Oaks. Stations will operate using the club’s call sign of AA6CV.
  • The Ventura County Amateur Radio Club (VCARC) will gather on the Oxnard College Campus in the grass area west of Parking Lot B, East Bard Road and South Rose Avenue in Oxnard. They will operate with the call sign K6MEP.
