Ventura County Health Officer Orders Older, Vulnerable Citizens to Shelter at Home

Ventura County’s Health Officer has ordered older and more vulnerable county residents to shelter at home through April 1. The order applies to county residents age 75 and older as well as residents 70 and older with underlying health conditions.

They will still be allowed to travel outside the home – maintaining a six-foot distance from other persons – for the purpose of medical care, nutrition or to perform necessary work in the fields of government and health care.

All bars and restaurants were order to to restrict food options to take-out, delivery or drive-through services. The following types of businesses were ordered to close for the two week period:

  • Bars and nightclubs that do not serve food.
  • Movie theaters, live performance venues, bowling alleys and arcades.
  • Gyms, and fitness centers, and aquatic centers.
  • Wineries, breweries, and tap rooms that provide tastings.
